Stay in Shape
This bit of advice is “do as I say, not as I do.”
WORK OUT
EAT WELL
I mean it. I’ve barely been to the gym and I stress eat during school. I’m up two sizes with my pants and, frankly, that is only two because I pretend that my current jeans fit me.
Get into the habit of working out. Hopefully your school has a gym. Make going to the gym (or running or cycling) a regular part of your routine. Please. Don’t be like me. My weight gain is making my law school life miserable. I used to go four or five times a week and I could do an hour of aerobic exercise. Now I take the elevator rather than go up a flight of stairs.
Get into the habit of eating well. Don’t grab that garbage in the vending machine or the snack shop. If you already eat well, stick with it. If you don’t, start. Grab a book like Dr Shapiro’s Picture Perfect Weigh Loss: Don’t be like me. Learn to love vegetables and eat a high fiber cereal for breakfast. Drink lots and lots of water.
Remember this: weight gain is almost solely because of poor eating choices. Exercise helps but nowhere near as much as being careful about what you eat. Don’t be like me. Eat well and exercise.
